would it be possible to miscarry one twin and carry the other? Or fall pregnant straight after miscarriage?

I had a miscarriage 2 weeks ago. I didn’t know i was pregnant and thought i was just having a heavy period, but when a feotus fell out of me i took it to the docs and he said i had miscarried and was about 4 weeks when it happened. The doc said i wouldn’t have any of the hormones left. But now, i’m having all these pregnancy symptoms. My breasts have gotten so big that they barely fit into my bras, they feel really heavy. My partner says they feel harder than normal. My nipples are so painful that they hurt when they rub against my shirts or if i touch them. I’ve been getting distinct morning sickness throughout the day. I have hard strange food cravings at odd times. I crave food i’ve never wanted to eat before like pickled onions and alot of junk food. I’ve also had some thick whitish mucus. I’m also always tired and been getting headaches. What’s happening?

Yes, it is possible to carry twins and lose one early in the pregnancy…some women don’t even know they are pregnant with twins, and miscarry one passing it off as a period (which it’s really not) and then finding out they are pregnant (with the remaining twin). It’s called the vanishing twin.
4 weeks is a bit early to actually pass a fetus, at that point it is still cells…if it was recognizeable as a fetus I would guess that you were farther along than you or your doctor thought. At 4 weeks, a miscarriage is often thought to be a heavier than normal period sometimes with cramping and clotting. I know, I’ve had 2 at 4-5 weeks. =’(
And the symptoms you are describing could be that you are pregnant again, or what you are thinking about losing one twin and not the other. Did your doc do an ultrasound or blood test to confirm that you had a complete miscarriage? It could also just be wishful thinking that’s causing these symptoms, or maybe your body trying to readjust the hormone levels from when you were pregnant…there are lots of possibilities, the only way to know for sure though is to find a competent doctor who can answer these questions…and FYI after a miscarriage, whether it be at 4 weeks or more your HcG levels do not immediately drop to zero. It can take up to 2 weeks sometimes more for it to get to that point. Good luck, I hope you can get things figured out, and I’m sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to go through.
